Labor Edit - H.M.S

Lydia,

Our setting is for Hours.Decimal Hours. Just on the Labor Edit Listing
do we see Hours:Min. All of the clock out times are H.DH. Only about
10% of the clock in times are H:M. My guess is that it is caused by some
obscure artifact from upgrading. We have been using Vantage since 2.5 or
2.6.

I duplicated the Labor Edit Listing in RB. It's not quite as easy to use
but
the problem is fixed.

Bob:

Found this in the Vantage help stuff:

Time Format
Time Format defines how you will enter clock in and out times in Labor Entry
and how times of day are displayed in various programs throughout the
system. You can elect to display time as either HOURS/MINUTES or
HOURS/HUNDREDTHS.

This option only controls the way the times are ENTERED. Once entered, the
elapsed hours calculated are always represented as decimal values-that is,
as Hours/Hundredths.

Could this be contributing to your problem?

Lydia

We have had an open issue with the Labor Edit List since version 2.6.
Now on 4.00.815.

The times on the edit list are mixed. Most entries are in decimal minutes.
But some are in minutes and seconds. The difference being a decimal point
or a colon in the entry. I have never been able to detect a pattern.
Sometimes the hms entry will be on a clock in. Sometimes on a clock out.
Different
employees. Different work centers. Different person/work center running
the report.
Everything in Vantage is set for 100ths of a minute.

Epicor didn't have a solution. They asked for our database, said maybe
there's
something strange in there. Management said no. What to do??

Has anyone else seen this problem. Any guesses?

This has been a problem from day one. I threw out the progress labor edit
list and wrote my own in RB. A lot easier to read, too. Makes sense that
if my database was corrupted, so would my RB report but not so.

Hi Bob

Pardon my ignorance, can you point me to the Labour Edit List (or do you
mean Labour Entry?) and I'll check for you, I haven't noticed anything so
far.

I've pinpointed it to entries made via the data collection module. Any
entries made via the labor entry show as decimal, any via data collection
show as minutes/seconds.

BTW: Bob, were you able to get those reports opened?

Morning Bob, I use the labor edit report on a daily basis and have never
seen that problem at all. For me, it is one of the only Vantage reports I
totally trust. I literally go over each column on a daily basis and thus far
have never seen a problem of any sort. Sounds to me that it is unique to
your system. Epicor wanting your database is typical, I'm not sure what
their fetish about this is but almost any deep rooted problem requires it.
Good luck,
Mark Wesley

Hi Bob

Ok, got it. I use a Progress RB report in favour of this so I wouldn't have
noticed anyway. However, all our bookings are via TT5's and having run the
Labour Edit report for this week to date I don't have any nasties.

Hope this helps, but I guess not!
