Kinetic Solution Workbench, Layers and Menus not joining after import

Throwing this out here before I spend an hour or more fixing it manually. When we imported our solution workbench files into our freshly wiped database it imported all the menus and all the layers, but they are not joined in menu maintenance.

Basically, any screen that had a customization layer is just back to being out of the box Epicor now. All instances of Part and Job Entry had customizations. I HAVE the layers and can make copies but idk why they didn’t move over. Anyone know if we missed something, or if there’s a way to fix it easy with solution files?

Thanks

DMT I believe will do what you want.

I do not have a menu table as a spreadsheet file at this point, just the solution workbench cab file. I figured if it could carry over the menu security and menu sequence and everything it would get the layer name too.

And I also have the layer cab file I should mention. I am not actually missing any data, just seems like it didnt overwrite existing out of the box menus.

I also thought like you did when I did our first conversion pass from one version to the next…

Yeah, did you raise a case with Epicor support?

Also, can you check to see if the layers are published? That’s one thing I didn’t understand. Would we need to bring over layers first and then publish them and THEN do the menu cab file?

In the end I had to use DMT, but support did seem to have some understanding of what the Menu cab file would and wouldn’t do.

Alright that helps for sure. I’ll make a note of all this for next time and just fix it manually this time as penance.

Yeah don’t take it from me though. I also just did what you did and went with whatever worked. At the end of the day I was still just as confused about what the menu cab files did and didn’t do… And I didn’t feel much better after talking with support. But maybe they have refined their procedure and logic so they can say exactly what it can and can’t do now.
