Kinetic gets confused about where it is

We are in mixed mode with some classic and some kinetic screens. occasionally the kinetic screens get confused about what site the user is logged into. We have a unique Kinetic Color assigned to every site for that visual indicator “am I in the right site?”

Kinetic gets confused in two different ways:

  1. in the desktop app the user changes from site 106 to 104 then searches for and opens a screen but the screen opens in site 106 rather than 104.

  2. now go open Kinetic in the web, directly with the URL, not with the “close everything I was just working on” button. Kinetic will display in the text name from site 104 but the color from site 106 and it’s really logged into site 106. And screens will open in site 106.

The fix is to just change sites and change back.

Has anyone else seen this or something similar?

Have had cases open about this for years. Because its not reproducible, support insists it cannot be submitted to development. If you can reproduce what you describe above, please submit it. My issues have always been intermittent so I get nowhere.

I have to say though, it is better in 2024.1 than it was in prior versions. The only screen that constantly gets confused anymore is the BAQ designer.

Same. It happens for us in Classic Client when using the Kinetic homepage menu.

Same here. I’ve even provided a video recording but support weren’t willing to submit it to development because he wasn’t able to reproduce himself when logged in.

This bug also results in some screens showing empty data in the tables. Time phase, Purchase orders…

Our users need to close the browser tab and reopen multiple times as a temporary fix.

It is the same for us, and we also have unique colors assigned to the sites so it’s visual to make sure you are in the correct site.
It’s been a problem for a while and is still random but happening more frequently. Users and begging me to fix it as this particular group lives in 3 or 4 sites all day long and needs to switch between them frequently throughout the day.

I know this isn’t practical as an ongoing solution but maybe try opening different browsers for each site? One on Edge, one on Chrome, one on Firefox?

…one on Safari…
…one on Netscape…
…one on Mosaic…

I do recall from an old thread that @bconner is aware and was trying to track down all Kinetic homepage bugs. I believe most of the switching between company issues were fixed but I haven’t heard anything on the site switching issues. Although I don’t know if there is a PRB for that one.
