We are in the Cloud! If we do a copy from our Non-Upgraded LIVE environment to our Upgraded PILOT environment, will not that overwrite the Upgrade? Or are these environment copies only copying data?
The db will not be upgraded, and will have to have that done to it.
Got this response else where… You should be able to bring your live data into pilot that has the newer version. When requesting it, I would make sure to mention that there are different versions.
Yes, you mention it, so they know to upgrade the database, but an updated form of your live one does not exist at this point.
They run a conversion on it after the copy.
It was my understanding that when they(Epicor) updated to a major release ( 2023, 2024) EVERYTHING is overwritten They take a copy of live Db, dump it into Pilot then apply the update. I have lost many a WIP customization at major update time. Did they change this for 2024 ?
Thanks Alisa.
Well,
Just got this…
Kinetic - Americas For customers on cadence, the Kinetic 2024.1 Pilot upgrade scheduled for this weekend has been postponed and a new upgrade date will be communicated.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure the quality of your Kinetic upgrades meet your expectations.
Note: The upgrade does not apply to Flex Option customers who have deferred their upgrade
Guess I can resume dev in Pilot…
Well it was kinda dumb to do it Insights weekend.
At least they finally got the production cloud upgrade away from Insights, I remember a few years ago they had a major issue with it right before Insights and I was scrambling right before flying out and I heard from Epicor staff at the conference that they didn’t like it so close to Insights either. I did provide feedback to the appropriate Epicor people to get that moved and I think even voted for an Epicor idea that they should move it away from Insights. Glad they did that for production, but yeah Pilot update right before Insights does probably still put a little strain on Epicor staff and resources when they are prepping for the conference, especially if there are issues with the upgrade for either the whole of customers or even just a subset. It will be interesting to see if there is more feedback about them pulling the plug on this one at Insights next week.
This is why there should only be one upgrade per year. They can’t get it together to stick to a schedule twice per year. The schedule has already been changed once. And now they are postponing the upgrade 18 hours into the upgrade window??? And this is the second release in a row with multiple schedule changes.
This is the “Important Dates” listing for this weekend from EpicWeb:
Germany and UK datacenter customers: during this time, your Pilot and any additional environments will be unavailable while Epicor performs your upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete, log in to your Pilot to explore what’s new and begin testing. There are five weeks to test before your Production upgrade June 21-23.
Upgrade window: Thursday, May 16, 7:00 PM - Saturday, May 18, 11:59 AM Local Datacenter Time
Canada and US Central (Americas) customers: the Pilot upgrade for Canada and Americas datacenters has been postponed. We will communicate the new date in advance.
The answer from support is that you can’t move an older version of live to a newer pilot environment. Technically we know it’s all possible, but they dont want to do it.
Has there been anything mentioned at Insights about when Cloud Americas customers will get 2024.1 on their Pilot instances?
I was told we probably won’t hear anything until next week.
That was the answer I got whenever I asked. They would not do a refresh if your environments were off.
After another delay last night we received the message this morning that Pilot 2024.1 upgrade was completed. However, when trying to log into Pilot we get a “Method not found” error. This is on multiple PCs. On one I did do a reinstall of Epicor but it did not fix the problem.
Is everyone else having this issue?
It’s working ok fur us today on both the browser and the smart client. It was a little dicey last night.
Working for me, but painfully slow to load. I was having that issue with my PILOT environment previously and was hoping this update might refresh… something?.. but still takes over a minute to log into Pilot. I’ve even had the browser time-out just trying to log in. Second attempt takes forever but eventually went through. I’ll have to enter a case for that and see why the performance is so slow.
