I think you're on to something. Why can't we do that with Vendor and
Customer Contacts? Have you tried to make changes in those field lately?
These should have the ability to become inactive, as people leave and
are replaced. We know this happens a lot, and names cannot be deleted if
they've been used in a record.

I know we shouldn't camp on in this manner, but you have my interest.

This is one of those "I've submitted an enhancement request and would like
to let others know so they can add their name if they agree.
I asked for an enhancement that was a combination of several old requests.
What I would like to see is an "inactivate" check on most all items in the
Job Management/Master File Maintenance master files. Things like
operations, workcenters, indirect codes...etc. Most of these have
transactions against them so they can't be deleted, but we would like to
prevent their future use, or at least get warned if you are using the wrong
ones.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Job Management > Master File Maintenance. Most items available are
for users to setup lists to select from in various Vantage functions,
primarily Job and Data Collection related.

2. Users would like the ability to mark any of these items Inactive
when they are no longer necessary, similar to how Parts can be marked
Inactive in the Part Master.

3. Some of these already addressed in some other enhancements,
147.357---Indirect Codes, 113.3051-Operations, 98.2788---Work Centers.

A suggestion is that we need an Inactive button in the Indirect Codes.
Customers may not want employees to use this Indirect code anymore and the
only way to prevent this is to delete it. It would make more sense just to
make it Inactive so that we could easily go back and run reports on this

We also need this logic on other screens such as "Where Used" to also have a
check box to "Include Inactive" like part tracker now has. Even job tracker
when looking thru open or closed jobs display a message "Part Inactive". I
will jump on the wagon with you Aaron.

We've been modifying the description of the operations and workcenters we
don't use. If you rename them zz_Name, they all fall to the bottom of the
list. Then, they're out of site (mostly), but it's also easy to say don't
use the ones with "zz" in front.
