We are mixed mode here and use ave. cost on inventory parts. When we
recieve a part to inventory, the cost (WIP) follows the part. Whether you
do a manual move to inventory or a auto recieve like we do, the cost is
moved from WIP to your inventory account for that particular part. It isn't
moved to Cost of Sales until an invoice is created for the sale of that
part. Does that help at all?

The cost should remain in inventory as finished goods.

In our case (we use backflushing and standard cost), when the job is created, the parts are
moved into WIP inventory according to the BOM/rev employed. When the job is completed, the
value of the finished items is moved out of WIP inventory and into FG inventory and any
variances are posted to manufacturing variance via MFG-VAR.

For stock jobs, any costs remaining in WIP after cost are moved to
inventory will show up in your Inventory Adj control account as an
ADJ-CST entry with a reference of Variance - Job:###
