Over the years I’ve trained many on the use of Job Status Maintenance, but I’ve always noticed that Completed or Closed jobs are sometimes listed. This goes back to Vantage 8. This only happens if the Job is not Engineered or Released.
Regardless, I cannot find any purpose in those Jobs being included in Job Status Maintenance, so one could reason it’s a bug… an oversight bug… an untested scenario (because who would expect to have to test for complete/closed jobs?)… regardless there’s no way this was intended design. Heck, there is even a post going back to the Yahoo group on this.
There’s even an EpicCare KB on how to work around it, but no apparent interest in Epicor Dev actually fixing it.
So I just finished another EpicCare Case on this topic and they want me to send it to Epicor Ideas… but it’s not an idea… it’s a bug… besides that everyone knows something like this will die in Epicor Ideas because it’s no urgent nor impacting enough users… but it’s just plain annoying and confusing… what is one to do? the most irritating part of the whole thing is it’s seriously adjusting the where clause, super simple fix, but they let it lay there.
Does anyone at Epicor do code or business process reviews to see if things make coherent sense or align with the documentation or training guides?
@timshuwy
Please don’t prejudge what we will or will not do… We use Epicor Ideas for any CHANGES to how the software currently works, especially if the software has done something for 20 years in one way… in that case, it normally cannot be resolved as a bug, because it will change behavior, and the new behavior may need new documentation. This is why it is considered an enhancement.
ALSO NOTE that “simple” ideas do not need a ton of votes to get into the release. in our next release of 2024.2, we have over 17 new features that came in via Epicor Ideas all with less than 20 votes. These will be added via what we are calling “story bundles”… these are all small, and 1/2 of these new features had 6 or fewer votes. They were all considered “simple” requiring very few hours to add in.
Something like you are referring to here is one of those feature we would strongly consider putting into the story bundle.
SO>… please submit the idea to “enhance” the job status maintenance to hide all closed jobs and we will see what we can do.
Thanks
Here is the Epicor Idea for this issue, please vote it up everyone!
