Warehouse list is blank and bin is greyed out. I can manually enter a wh and then a bin and it works. If I report quantity on a job and a WIP location is not set on the resource, where does it go? I cant find it in part locations, but I can apparently pull it from thin air.
Also, I have not discussed it yet, but I also have an issue where the mtl costing shows up as 0. I guess we’ll cross that bridge once we get past this one. This job has many coparts and all of the parts use Lot Avg Costing
In 10.2.200, we noticed this too. I believe it is working as designed when we contacted Epicor earlier this year. It is a change in behavior since 10.2.100.
So the term WIP is thrown around but it means different things in different places.
First, in the G/L, WIP is an account (or series of accounts) that keeps track of the values of materials as they move in and out of Inventory, WIP, Cost of Goods sold, etc.
From a Job standpoint, the WIP is all on the job. There are no inventory locations shown when you run the WIP Value Report. The only real place to see WIP in a job is the Production Detail Report, which gets information from several places: JobAssemb, JobMtl, JobOper, PartTran, LaborDtl, etc. or the Inventory WIP Reconciliation Report (mostly the same data sources).
Now, you might be able to get some information from the PartWIP file, which shows the status of the parts issued to a Job.
I’m not totally sure about some of the more advanced production methods but for vanilla Job Control, WIP is all in jobs.
