We build large medical devices all which are custom one off orders. We are revamping our processes for a more lead approach. One of our hold ups is the job packets and how we are looking to close out the ops.
To start, we fab our parts (sheet metal - laser and bend), mostly in a batch process. These items go into a Kanban which is currently a visual replenish system.
For each unit we have carts that are filled with the Kanban parts and sent to weld, paint, assembly, test, and on to crate…
We are looking to transact these parts after paint, test, than close out at crate. The problem is we could be looking at over a hundred jobs (bar codes) to close out at each of these steps.
Is there a way to group all these jobs into one packet where we would only need to scan one bar code for the entire job?
I don’t know if Epicor’s assemblies or PCID would help. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
