Don't you have Time Phase up at some point during the PO creation process?

You should see other open POs for the part pretty clearly if you do. (Same is true of you have Purchase Advisor up.)

I don't defend Epcior often but I think they are right (enough) in this case. There are plenty of system tools to prevent the problem (even without a BPM).

We are on Vantage 8.03.404B, and we seldomly use PO suggestions to
pull job material into a purchase order. This causes a problem in
that a job material can be manually pulled into multiple POs. This
has caused a problem in the past because two POs have been issued
for the same material.

For example, job #1111 calls for five (5) widgets. I then manually
(or using PO suggestions) pull the widgets into a PO, and send PO to
the vendor. A colleague, unaware that the widgets have been
ordered, manually pulls them into a PO and orders them again. Once
they are on a PO, you can't pull them in again using PO Suggestions,
but they can be pulled in manually multiple times until they are
received in Vantage.

I called support regarding this issue, and they tested this scenario
and found they were able to pull in the same part multiple times.
They found an old ticket with the same issue. The notes said, "This
is working as designed." This means that they don't think it's
broken, so they are obviosly not going to fix it. I was advised
that a BAM can be created to pop up a warning on the screen alerting
the user that the specified part is already on another PO.

Has anyone done this? If so, can you provide any guidelines as to
how to set this up? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
