Job Links Blank Title 51987

Paul,
When you create an order for a mfg item and look at the part in the job
manager you can see the demand source, and if you scroll to the far right in
the demand box, you will see a suggested NEXT ACTION that will read CREATE
JOB or LINK TO JOB. So, you can do this, and this NEXT ACTION box content
will change accordingly. So, assume your order creates a direct demand for 2
items, and you create a job for ONE, you will see the next suggested action
still advises to create or link to a job. You can also create the job for
the 2 items, and then on the supply side, break the multiple quantities into
multiple jobs, etc..This is where the demand links power comes in.

Also, this is a great screen if you are doing forecasting. To forecast a
production schedule and then link your subsequent direct demand to a
forecasted supply........

Hope this helps.
Carey

question, If I scrap a top level item how to I scrap the unit while creating
demand for the job (demand for us to re-order the material for the scrapped
qty). Hope this made sense. We are using Vantage 6.0. Thanks again. Ok,
another question, what if I had the unit in stock how would I ship the unit?
Can I just create a sales order and ship from the sales order? Again thanks.

Subject: [Vantage] Job Links

I am new to this section of Vantage so please bare with me.

We have a job and that job has a sales order so in the job manager I see
the
demand links we have a sales order and in the supply I see the job to
build
these. Two questions if I could, what information is maintained in the
demand & supply links (there are four boxes for information)? [Stuart
Noble] As you look at the four boxes, the top right shows open jobs to
make the part in Question. You are able to get into job entry by
highlighting the job in question, and you can update your demands links
for the job. The top left shows open demands, from jobs(direct) and
Sales Orders for the part in question. By highlighting a demand on the
left, you can create a job directly, or link to an open job on the
right. The lower right hand box shows demand specific to the highlighted
job above. The bottom left box shows supply links for the specific
demand highlighted in the box above. The job manager is extremely
powerful, play around with it a bit and it should become a bit
clearer.Second
question, If I scrap a top level item how to I scrap the unit while
creating
demand for the job (demand for us to re-order the material for the
scrapped
qty).[Stuart Noble] If you need to make an extra item because one is
damged, just increase one of your demands (stock or for order) by one.
This will increase the material and labour requirements, and when the
job is done (ie, you are completing/closing the job, you enter a
quantity of 1 in the scrap box, and the quantity you actually made in
the completed qty box. The two numbers should add up to the quantity on
the job. So, if you need to make 4 items, and scrap one, increase the
job qty to 5, and while closing the operations, enter qty scrapped as 1,
and qty complete as 4, and receive 4 to stock or to order. Hope this
made sense. We are using Vantage 6.0. Thanks again. Ok,
another question, what if I had the unit in stock how would I ship the
unit?
Can I just create a sales order and ship from the sales order? Again
thanks.[Stuart Noble] YES
