Job Exception Reporting (Vantage 6.1)

We have some jobs that are sporadic and some repetitive jobs. We
monitor the sporadic jobs through the Sales Gross Margin report. It
gives a comparison of actual costs to both the sales price and the
quoted amount. The repetitive jobs are made to stock and use
standard cost. We have written reports that compare actual costs to
standard costs. Those jobs are reviewed quarterly.

Drop me a line if you want more info. We're just a few miles away.

I am wondering what type of job exception reporting is being done by
various users. Are you comparing quoted standards and/or costs versus
actual standards and/or costs? If not what are you comparing? If so, do
you accomplish this by using the quote module? If you do not use the
quote module, how do you compare the two measures as the method only
allows for one set of measures and there really is no other place to put
the other set of measures, or is there?

Also, do you have any reports already built that you would be willing to
share? Currently we are trying to do exception reporting using a very
time-consuming manual process of looking up quotes, printing production
detail reports (which hopefully has included all surcharges for that
job) and looking at sales. Besides being very time-consuming, I am not
sure this process is really giving us the information "the powers that
be" are asking for.

Any information will be extremely helpful. Thanks.
