Job consuming resource and making all future jobs start after

Hello,

Looking to confimr whati think may be happening. I hate a job that has a couple operations completed already. 1 particular operation is taking months when it should be a few days at most. I was just brought into this so i do not have all the details. Reverse engineering this one. Is it possible that the reason why the resource is being dragged out is because the job had operations completed in error? If i change the BOM and re run the details on this job and schedule it manually to the 3/3/21 date it does not change (assuming due to the transactions against the job. Please and thank you in advance!

What does the production calendar look like for that resource/group? Assuming 14 hrs/day 5 days/week, that 1283 hours matches up with the duration of the operation in Epicor.

Is the operation supposed to be set to 0.3 pieces per hour? It also looks like the job is for 350 pieces, so I would expect a very long runtime if it takes 3 hours to process each part.

There is a company configuration setting that allows/disallows scheduling of started operations. If that’s disabled, you won’t be able to move an operation once it has labor entered.

Yes, the calendar for this operation I see they are using what you mention 14hrs/5days. That’s the part I do not know. I assume that their BOM is correct and the 0.3 pieces shouldn’t be there. I looked at previous jobs and only 2 of them showed this way. All others were at 0. So correct me if I am wrong please. By their being operations started it will drag on with the original pieces per hour value regardless of what i change it to now because of that?

I haven’t tried changing production standard in the middle of the run, but as far as I recall, you won’t be able to change the load since the operation is started.

You can try going to Actions > Scheduling > Job Scheduling in Job Entry to see if it allows you to reschedule from there. Or change the company setting to allow rescheduling started ops, schedule this job, then change the setting back if you have those permissions.

Thank you for you insight. We may try to change this setting but nevertheless you steered me in the right direction!

Can you tell me where this is located? I can’t seem to find it.

Should be in the Company Configuration>Modules>Production>Job> Scheduling>”Global reschedule started operations”.
