It looks like Spyware

The exact thing happened to me a month ago visiting a web site, when the
cursor moved over a "flash" presentation it automatically downloaded the
Trojan or whatever it is. Our Barracuda and software did not stop it.

Our IT gave me Malwarebytes and Spybot-Search & destroy ........ ran
each once then repeated each again. Problem went away.

Updating the spyware-antivirus software will not stop this, I update
more than once per week and it still downloaded.

Hmmm, point well taken. But I should check it, because this is not the
only weird thing that has happened to us recently. I may just have to
install updates more frequently.

Thanks again guys!

Your barracuda may be working fine. The "virus" in question is not
really considered a virus, and some don't even call it malware. I DO.
It gets on your computer without your knowlege just by visiting a web
site. It then starts throwing out bogus messages that your computer is
infected and constently redirects you to their web site to purchase
their "legitimate" antivirus software. I lost a half a day of work
trying to clean it out of my computer. It blew right past our hardware
firewall, antispam software, antispyware software, and antivirus
software.

I finally found www.malwarebytes.com which removed it without a
problem.

Then of course no matter what you do you cannot get out of it unless you

If your users get this message, it means they are already infected. You need
to clean their machines to stop and prevent this from coming up.

This is one site that talks about it and how to remove it.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-xp-antivirus-2008-2009

One thing you can also do with your system is to put in a DNS entry to the
site that the virus is trying to take you to and set it it up to the local
machine or a redirect to an internal site.

This is a problem that has been going on for awhile. The Spy Ware looks like Microsoft Defender. The spyware detector tells you to proceed to a website to get the spyware off only. When you get to the website you have to pay money.

The Baracuda is, right now anyway, the best IM Firewall and Web Filter I have ever used. I have the 400 and 300Â and have yet to see a Virus or Malware get by it. The key is the setup. If you need help with the setup or some tips a few of us here can help you. Shout out if you need some help.

Your barracuda may be working fine. The "virus" in question is not really considered a virus, and some don't even call it malware. I DO. It gets on your computer without your knowlege just by visiting a web site. It then starts throwing out bogus messages that your computer is infected and constently redirects you to their web site to purchase their "legitimate" antivirus software. I lost a half a day of work trying to clean it out of my computer. It blew right past our hardware firewall, antispam software, antispyware software, and antivirus software.

I finally found  www.malwarebytes.com which removed it without a problem.

It is a little late for this PC, but I recommend a Barracuda
WebFilter that will block those types of things from happening. And
it is fairly inexpensive.

Hmmm, point well taken. But I should check it, because this is not the
only weird thing that has happened to us recently. I may just have to
install updates more frequently.

Thanks again guys!
