Hi Dan,
We are on 6.1, but also have similar requirements. I think you could do
something similar for 8.03 - I have a Crystal report that looks at all
STK-MTL and PUR-MTL transactions for the given job. If you have a
separate part class set up for the raw material, you can filter that
class(es) out. For the parts still showing in inventory (not issued to
the job yet) it can be a little trickier. I created a report that
showed all the material shortages and then the quantity on hand, and for
our purposes the cost. If you do not have any other jobs that require
the same part, then all you need to do is compare the difference. For
our purposes we only looked at the higher cost items to advance bill,
and did not worry about inexpensive parts. If you do use the parts you
want to bill in other jobs, then you would need to subtract any material
requirements that are ahead of the job to bill from your on hand
quantity.
I hope this explanation made sense!
Liz

Rob,
Thanks for the reply. The canned WIP report co-mingles material. The
bank will not advance against raw material i.e. sheet stock once we've
sheared it to size, but they will advance against switches, breakers,
etc that have higher liquidity, provided we count it as inventory and
not WIP.

Ugly old report builder looking thing - but it does break out labor,
material, ovrhd, subcontract per job.

We purchase the majority of our material directly to a job, that hits
WIP upon receipt. We have material intensive jobs that might have 3- 4
month lead times. Our new line of credit excludes all material in WIP.
And only includes inventoried material. Short of receiving to an
inspection warehouse and then issuing to the job when material is
actually required, does anyone have any thoughts on how to get
visibility to purchase components in WIP?
Thanks,
