Is Global Part(s) the answer?

We have 2 companies in Epicor, one of them is our primary company (C1) while the other one is an old company (C2) that is no longer used for anything but as a reference.

We have parts in C2 that we would like to utilize in C1. I was thinking that marking a part as Global in C2 would make it available in C1. Either I am doing it wrong, or that is not what the intent of Global Parts is.

I think I set up Global Table correctly

I did that in both companies - for “All Systems” and “Multi Company”.

Is this the proper path to be taking? Am I missing a step here?

Or is my best bet just doing a DMT of the parts from C2 into C1?

This, IMHO.

I agree, if its just an archive you don’t want to be dependent on it.

You don’t mention here about setting up the inter-company settings to enable Global Records, however I agree that having a company just to hold archived historical data is probably not the best approach, and definately not if you are going to make that the “Master Dataholder” for something as fundamental as Parts.
If it is for historical data reporting then you can hold the data in a separate SQL database and then create BAQ/REST calls to it

Global parts are part of the intercompany setup.

If you are not using the other company, then DMT is the correct way to go, in my opinion.
