I am setting up a confrence computer at where I work. Where multiple people can sign into their own separate local accounts (we aren’t signing into accounts on a server.) I find however that I can only install epicor onto one of these local profiles. But since it is installing onto one profile The other users can’t access the epicor, and if I try to install epicor onto other Local Profiles, the installation will not work, it will tell me it failed to install.
Assuming you are installing the full client locally to the PC.
Change the installation directory if you have to and choose something like c:\Epicor. The installer doesn’t set NTFS permissions on the folder, so it is inherently accessible/shareable across profiles.
We do this, plus we create some common shortcuts in the default/public profile’s desktop - that way everyone who logs in sees them.
Thank you both, I will try these. The Shortcut option sounds like what we’re trying to get. Just in case how to you change the installation directory, after getting our installer there isn’t an option to change.
Running the install directly should allow you to change the directory - although I think the default is now c:\epicor. Running the silent installer script requires an edit to the script, or the addition of the destination directory flag - I can’t recall exact details since we don’t do that, but it’s doable.
We just give domain users rights since the folder is owned by whomever open Epicor first and copied the release.zip file over. This makes the install usable by anyone who uses that machine.
