Installation Help 8.03 ANYONE!

Sorry for not responding to this e-mail. I Was offered a lot of assistance over the Sunday (Panic mode to be live the next day). I received some support from Ben Nixon on the Sunday, and magically things worked fine. The final analysis on the issue was as simple as the Target Directory on the properties of my Vantage Admin icon included "~", which of course made nothing work. Ben identified this and I was off to the races.

Thanks to all for your assistance last weekend. We were live on Monday morning. I've never been paged so many time in my career. Still struggling with a few issues, but for the most part things have settled down. Lot's to learn....

The PF files never get installed to the client803 folder, the icons that are
created by the installation program are created WRONG and need the correct paths
manually created to point to the mfgsys803\server\ config folder.

The admin and schema tools can only be used on the server, not any other PC
unless the whole admin tool set is done, and even then the PF files need lots of
editing.

Guys, if you recall from the thread this morning that I did a fresh client
install yesterday. I took a look at he mfgsys.pf did not get installed into the
C:\client803\ client\config folder.

I will place a copy of it in this folder as well as the Epicor/Mfgsys803/
server/config/ client config folder

Mark, it is in the config folder as you indicate below, but it is NOT in the

Mark, I am logged in as Administrator. Ben Nixon set the server up with us 2
years ago as we bought it specifically for Vantage. I am changing the security
on the C: Drive as it has what appears to be special permissions for
administrative reasons. I am going to re-apply.

The issue still seems to be with the mfgsys.pf file. Is it suppose to be in the
c:\client803 directory? It isn't. I logged into another computer yesterday, did
a fresh client install and added the progress client as well. (This is needed so
I can perform a schema change and access the administrative functions of
Vantage). It still gave me the cannot open mfgsys.pf error

Are you an administrator on your server? Is there sharing/security on the folder
you are trying to delete and do you have rights to that folder?

One quick question. My server will not let me delete the C:\client Directory.
Says it is protected or something along those lines.. Even after uninstalling
the Manufacturing client, I can't get rid of it. As a result I am not able to
re-install the manufacturing client into the C;\client directory. I have to make
up a new directory to proceed.

There are some registry keys also that you should delete for uninstall of
8.3.4x. Anything at:

HKCU\Software\ PSC\

also

HKLM\Software\ PSC\

These had me banging my head for hours because multiple reinstalls wouldn't work
before.

If there are any technical people out there working today I could really really use some help. I have just done a dump and load of my 6.10 data base with success. I have installed and converted to 8.00.812

The kicker is as follows:

I performed a test conversion a couple of weeks ago (again with success), to get me to 8.03.407

Today after backing up my 8.00..812 data and doing the prorest I am not able to launch my change schema client. I get an error. I tried uninstalling the client and re-installing, but it doesn't let me use the c:\client directory, so I create a different directory. I get the same error. It has to do witk finding the mfgsys.pf (unable to open)

ANY HELP would be appreciated as I started yesterday and have been here at the office for too many hours. I am suppose to be live on Monday morning. I don't have weekend support with Epicor, but regardless, there was no answer...

I also just did a fresh install of a client on another PC and installed the progress client with it, so I could perform a remote admin function. I selected Schema change and get the same error message

As long as you have the 8.00.812 converted db safely backed up and saved, then yes. I would uninstall 8.03 and 8.00, 10.1b and 10.1a delete the epicor directories and start fresh - I also would run the schema change and conversions right from the server

One quick question. My server will not let me delete the C:\client Directory. Says it is protected or something along those lines. Even after uninstalling the Manufacturing client, I can't get rid of it. As a result I am not able to re-install the manufacturing client into the C;\client directory. I have to make up a new directory to proceed.

Mark, I am logged in as Administrator. Ben Nixon set the server up with us 2 years ago as we bought it specifically for Vantage. I am changing the security on the C: Drive as it has what appears to be special permissions for administrative reasons. I am going to re-apply.

The issue still seems to be with the mfgsys.pf file. Is it suppose to be in the c:\client803 directory? It isn't. I logged into another computer yesterday, did a fresh client install and added the progress client as well. (This is needed so I can perform a schema change and access the administrative functions of Vantage). It still gave me the cannot open mfgsys.pf error

Where is your mfgsys.pf showing up now, or is there not one at all?

If you use the defaults, on the server the .pf files show up at
C:\Epicor\mfgsys803\Server\config on server

and

C:\epicor\client\config on client
