Inspection Processing - Security

With our business process, we cannot have the same inspector being able to perform Operations, First Articles, Inventory, Materials, etc inside of the Inspection Processing Entry program. Can these sheets be controlled via security or Inspector assigned which inspection process they can only inspect?

I would suggest creating security groups for each of the inspection process types and then assign field level security for each of the groups related to the types of processes that you want the group to perform. For example, the first article security group would have full access to the fields in the first article tab. You can then give the inspector (user account) access to that group.

Thanks Jason. I also noticed that under the Service Security Maintenance, if I go to the Method sheet, looks like I can allow/disallow access to specific method. Wouldn’t this be another option?

I recommend doing this with menu group security. You can create multiple customized versions of the UI, each of which only allows access to one security group’s tabs, and hides all the others. Then you can make the different versions available in different menus, and the original one in a system-admins-only area. You would still have to deal with the combined search panel.

Hi Chai - I’ve not done work with the Service Security Maintenance menu so I will not be much help with that topic. In my business, we have a similar issue with Part setup in which many different users are responsible for managing different fields in Part Maintenance (and are not permitted to update others). We manage this with with menu security groups and then give field level security to specific groups.

Thank you Jason and MontyMan. I will look at the menu group security.
