Id like to see some technical and in-depth things on:

  • ATE (Automate Testing)

I went to some E9 to E10 Upgrade Sessions during Insights, not once was ATE mentioned, I approached the speaker and asked why he didn’t upsell us on ATE, perfect timing to let the crowd know of this magical utility that lets you write tests and replay them, so when you upgrade, you simply hit re-play, grab a coffee and your validation is complete (given that your tests are well written).

Truth is we all update, upgrade typically as much as we can, what better tool to cover than the one that could save us years on ROI.

You didn’t go to mine. But you did provide some excellent ATE screenshots for me. I’m constantly looking at automated testing. With the Advent of Kinetic, what will you use to test as ATE doesn’t do web testing?

Staci,
Yes exactly, as I mentioned earlier, it’s great having a conference to showcase your own product, but in order to capitalise on a good product, the next step is to invite other specialist vendors to demonstrate how they have integrated their products to Epicor, it may be things that Epicor does, but the vendor just does better. For example Tsheets, Expensify, JIRA, even Dell Boomi.

As I said before I can see how it could be seen as a negative thing internally, but just a suggestion. I have seen a few of these products advertising integration with other ERP products already, so even if the customer doesn’t use them it does give them an element of comfort seeing other companies using the Epicor brand, particularly in the initial investigation phase when going out to market and choosing vendor. Apologies for the long post, and if this is the wrong place for it @rbucek. Happy to chat @Staci_Stahr_Cummings offline if you want.

I’ll jump on that bandwagon too. A security one would be awesome!

Intro to C# with Epicor, please please please!

At some point we get to the limit of the built in tools with widgets, and need to resort to C#. I see all the super smart developer gurus posting code samples, and really could use an example from start to finish. List each step, and what the step does and why it’s needed.

Ideally, some examples should be included in the customization user guide so we have a starting point and something to follow and modify, as we get more confidence to try new things, since it’s an integral part of extending Epicor for each customer.

I know I’d appreciate a 1 hour webinar (or youtube video) that follows through an example any time, if we could do it sooner than waiting 6 more months for Insights.

They had one last year. It was pretty good. I would vote for a repeat of that one!

I have a topic. Accounting for non-accountants. Some basics on the GL would be helpful for a lot of operations/IT people. The extended education could go through some forensic accounting to track transactions from purchase of a material, through job cost etc. I know my accounting department has a really hard time trying to track down what went into certain GL transactions, and I end up trying to dig through the system, but my knowledge of accounting is limited, so it’s a little like the blind leading the blind.

Great idea. I have been in the exact situation, with similar results.:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

There might be a class at a local college to help you out. We have extension classes like this offered all the time by the tech college.

Hi @Staci_Stahr_Cummings any update on Extended Ed for insights? Any of our requests make it in?

Hi Everyone! We’re working on publishing the agenda as we speak. We’ll be updating REST and Customization to the Max. Also some “Running your Financial, Inventory, and Production Cycles” that will have bits in them on the various suggestions we received. Also sessions on job management, SSRS, searching, and troubleshooting techniques from Support (thanks to Nathan Anderson). So yes - we have sessions that you all recommended. Thank you all for your input! Be watching your inboxes, because the email will be coming soon! Happy holidays everyone!!!

Hi @Staci_Stahr_Cummings,

Just checking on the classes and which are 4 vs 8 hour classes. The early bird deadline is coming up in a couple of weeks and I’d like to put in my request for the conference but need more details.

Here’s the extended education list. Please forgive the format, I am just trying to get you something now while we’re dealing with the technical issues we’re having with getting them added to registration.Extended Education_External1.pdf (201.9 KB)
