Initial Product Labeling

In our current environment, we do not have b/c labeling. As we count during our physical inventory, we need to print out labels to affix to the product. I do not believe EPICOR can handle this. Any ideas?

Cycle count labels OR new inventory labels? Epicor will do the cycle count labels. As for new b/c inventory labels, I’d start with a quick BAQ on PartBin/Part table to get the data for everything in inventory. Then you could use Crystal or SSRS in Epicor, or any third party label printing software.

These are new inventory labels as we don’t have any now.

Then I’d do this:

  • Decide what barcode strategy - C39, 2D,etc. and how it will link to your part/bin data. Two codes per tag - one for Bin and one for Part? That sort of thing.
  • Write the BAQ to get the data and feed it through a 3rd part label making software that will do b/c.
  • Print all the labels and hand them out with the cycle count tags/sheet to have your folks label everything as it’s being counted.
  • Get your Epicor label worked out. You’ll need this moving forward. They can autoprint during various transactions to make everything easier moving forward.

You should probably enlist some consulting expertise for this. Some of these decisions are rather permanent

Mike is right, it’s definitely something to really think through ahead of time. At my previous company, my first task was renaming\relabeling the entire warehouse… soooo much work.

We are b/c labeling the racks. Our task is to count, affix a b/c label and then put the inventory back so we don’t have to pull the product down again.

I was looking for a simple b/c label program that would allow me to create a template with: p/n, lot, qty. Then, I could take the inventory tag and input the info into the template. From that, I can print out the label all within 30 seconds.
