What is the easiest / best way to load up the starting inventory balances. Hoping to be able to load the sub ledger without creating a bunch of inventory transactions like with the Open AP & AR load programs. Or do I have to do a cost / qty adjustment and just have a special reason code for the load that nets the transaction in inventory.
When we went live, our Finance consultant told us to UNCHECK the Inventory box under Company Configuration>Modules>Finance>General Ledger>System Interfaces prior to loading any beginning inventory. Once inventory was loaded, we then went back into Company Configuration and checked the Inventory checkbox
I dont really like the approach of unchecking that box because after you
check it for ongoing, when you run capture outdated transactions, those
will get picked up and posted.
I much prefer to load tjw quantities and cost, post to go, then post a
reversing entry to bring this balances back down to correct gl.
I also dont like what some suggest for creating a unique reason code for
initial load because you’re stuck with that reason code in the list for the
life of the system…
