In Process Inspections Every X Parts

,

I’ll just paste this question from Yahoo Groups, it sums up what I want to ask.

We would like to see how other sites are handling in-process inspections (like every 10, 50 or X number of pieces)

We are doing our Production EPR this week for our implementation of E10 and have some questions about the quality module (AQM). Looking at the tables and forms in the Train database I don’t see any way to address in-process inspections. There are options for First Article, Material receipts, PO receipts (Outside Process?) and RMA but looking under “Operations” it seems it is only for the total of the operation (such as at oper completion). Also, confusingly, when creating a new Operation inspection hovering over the 'New" icon says “New First Article” same as the First Article tab.

We would like to see how other sites are handling in-process inspections (like every 10, 50 or X number of pieces) for SPC charting. Can this be collected in Epicor 10 or is everyone doing tracking using an external system? If external are you recording at the MES location or writing on worksheets for later manual entry for statistical tracking?

Thanks,

-Todd C.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that you enter the sample size on the Part.

This is what will provide the sample size when you click on the Generate Test Set in the Inspection Entry screen. I don’t think you can set Epicor to do an every X. This would take care of your sample size.

For the actual inspection during the job, you would need to put the Inspection Plan on the operation or material. I’m not sure how you handle the sample size through the job though. It might come from the Part, but the company that I was working at shut down before I got this far into the process.
