Imports Progress.Open4GL - doesn't work

Grzegorz,

I think it likely IS possible... I just don't think the 'how' is advertized at all (and more to the point - purposefully hidden).

All the dot NET stuff is just VB versions of progress anyway. The difference is the target. BPMs are fundamentally server based and custom VB code is client based.

I think Epicor felt (probably rightly) that there is inherent danger in allowing server behavior modifying code to be run from clients.

Again - probably supported if you sprung the $$'s for the SDK.

Between VB client cusotmization, BPMs and service connect, I'm not sure it is worth pursuing as between the 3, there is likely little you can't do with a little rethinking.

Still, if you find something, I'm all ears! (If for no other reason than to gain a better understanding of how the layers in the system interact... I would still not go out of my way to do something that might negate the support agreement.)

Rob,
I was thinking about it and if there is such possibility to run a 4GL
code from a BPM, then there should be a way to do this from the
customisation.
But if the only way to this is to Imports Progress.Open4GL then it's
not good.

BTW. I am able to call a SQL query through ODBC, but 4GL is much more
flexible.

I am trying to run 4GL procedure within customisation.
I need to import some namespaces
Imports Progress.Open4GL
but it doesn't work. It display an error.
Someone know what's the reason?

I tried same last week but never got back to you. (Sorry.)
Same result: Doesn't work.

My hunch is that it is a built in prohibition to force you to buy the SDK if you want to do this detailed a level of customization.

Frankly, I think even if you found a backdoor around it, you'd probably be violating your support/maintenance agreement. Any problems would be easily blamed on your custom 4GL.
