Agreed. We had to create an empty revision for purchased parts with BOMs so that the couple of parts on the bill wouldn't overwrite the purchased part price. Downside is you always see that empty revision first.
I dug up our instructions for cost roll up. Hope this helps:
Open Vantage 8.03.4xx & Launch "Costing Workbench" from Main Menu: open Production Management folder, Engineering folder, and the General Operations folder. Double click on the Costing Workbench icon.
Step 1: Set up Group (usually initials plus the date) – this will be "Add New" eab010109, Description: Standard Cost Adjustments, "Main Plant" (save under File) – Proposed date: today's date, Copy from Plant Cost ID: "Update Default".
Click on "Save" under File
Step 2: Under Actions – Hit "Load Cost Details" – This Window will appear
Under File – Hit "Process" - you will see "process submitted" on bottom of screen – Hit Save under File (on Costing Workbench)
Step 3: On Costing Workbench – Open Cost Tab – Select Purchased Parts – select search, press options and then "check" Return all Rows – hit OK – click Search – system will be searching and List of Parts will open…..
Step 4: Select list of parts of scrolling and click on part number to hi-light, control key can be pressed for multiple part numbersÂ…
When finished hit OK, and the parts will appear on screen to be changed. Tab to change them.
