How To move An Element on a Form To Sit in Another GroupBox ? (Customization)

Hi

When I try to move an element out of one group box to another in customization mode, the element disappears when I drag it outside of the GrpBox it is assigned to, and doesn’t re-appear where I am trying to drag it to.

Example: Quote entry > Header, I am trying to move the cboCurrency element out of GrpAmts and over to another group box but it disappears when I drag it.

Also - is it possible to move them onto another sheet?

Any help please?

I’ve searched the customisation user guide but the only paragraphs I can find on moving elements discuss moving them around their own group box.

Thanks in advance.

You can select the control, click edit - cut and then highlight the new group and select paste.

You could hide the original control. Create a new one on your customization and replicate the EpiBinding setting from the original control.

Thanks - I wondered if recreating new ones would affect reporting as the fields would have changed to end in ‘_c’ - or would it not matter if they were bound to the same database fields as the original elements?

the _c denotes that a field is a custom. I wouldn’t think the original control would be pointing at a custom field - that is unless, the original control was added by someone in your org to the customization.

Essentially you can have as many controls as you want pointing to the same field - they are basically linked. Your report is going to pull from the underlying DB field, not a control

As long as the EpiBinding of the added UD field is the same as the original control you won’t have any issues with reporting. The report is still going to reference whatever the value of the original control is which will be the same as the UD field you added.
