Recently I have use material A for job B.And when I test using/ not use constrained material and The system show different time schedule but I don’t understand how it can be calculated by that
Case 1: A is not constrained → Start date of the job is on 6/6/2024
Case 2: A is constrained + lead time = 14 → Start date of the job is on 25/08/2024.
I use backward schedule. Can any one explain this for me? Thank u
Marking a material as Constrained makes the planning engine treat it a bit more like a non-stock part. It now considers materials availability a priority and says that you must have the material fully available to start the operation.
I would wager that Material A is not marked as a non-stock part and that you have no Minimum Quantity on Hand. This says to Epicor, stock this part, but not really. Undesirable results usually follow soon after.
In a vacuum, this will schedule the job that requires Materia A and then realize that you don’t have any and issue a PO Suggestion with an Expedite against it even though you do have a lead time properly defined.
