How can I prevent a part that is on Hold, from being shipped?

If you unfirm the release for the part you want to hold, shipping (programmatic) cannot ship it. The system will not allow it. However, there is a checkbox in company setup that needs to be set to stop these unfirm releases.

Apparently the warning message that pops up and says "this part is on hold" is not enough. I have been tasked with finding a way to prevent parts from being shipped if they are on hold.
We are running Vantage 6.1.

I think I may be able to modify the CR report for the packing slip to not print the packing slip text if the part is on hold, but before I go down that route, I thought I would ask here.

Any thoughts?
James
You can check it as inactive in Part Maintenance but all inventory needs
to be removed before hand.

Apparently the warning message that pops up and says "this part is on
hold" is not enough. I have been tasked with finding a way to prevent
parts from being shipped if they are on hold.
We are running Vantage 6.1.

I think I may be able to modify the CR report for the packing slip to not
print the packing slip text if the part is on hold, but before I go down
that route, I thought I would ask here.

Any thoughts?
James
