How are Users getting added to some Resource Groups?

Every so often something happens in our system where a new employee ID will get added to a resource group as a resource (literally Emp ID = The new Resource ID). This didn’t matter in the past because we didn’t pay attention to Epicor for scheduling. But now we are cleaning up our resources and trying to figure out how these get added in the first place.

Is there a process at MES that can result in a new resource being added to a resource group?
Is there any other way to add a resource to a resource group other than going to Resource Group, and adding a new resource?

Now that these odd resources are in there, they have been reported against and have jobs and all that, so removing them is more difficult. Once the active jobs are moved through, we should be able to inactivate them, even if we can outright delete them. But we need to understand how these are getting added in the first place.
Open to any ideas!

I’m pretty sure that setting this will do it.

More than likely through Employee Maintenance. Look under the Production Info. If someone assigns an employee a Resource Group, it automatically adds them as a resource.

Do you know if this is automatically done by any task? I bet someone just starting doing it for no reason.

Make a simple bpm that clears the resource group on save. It will save you in the long run.

I was just thinking is there a way I can prevent this from happening in the future? I will put a warning up or something.

Or just make the field Read Only.

One thing to note, is that setting will affect how the work queue works. Setting that default will show the things in that resource for the user when they open the work queue. Otherwise they have to go to one of the other tabs and select the resource. It’s really a poorly thought out UI.

I would guess though that you aren’t using the work queue. But if you are… maybe talk to whoever might be trying to get that to work better for the users? (it’s probably you, so it’s probably a moot point, but someone else might come across this in the future.)
