Here we go again with the cloud upgrade schedule

Can we have an idea that somebody at Epicor proofreads this page before they publish it? And that they don’t change the dates once published? And that they allow a minimally reasonable period of time to test new releases?

Originally this page (Sign In) said the pilot upgrade for the US would be May 3rd. Then it said TBD. Now it says May 16th which means we will only have from May 28th until June 14th to complete our testing, which is completely absurd (insights is the week of May 20th, and May 27th is a holiday in the US). Seriously epicor? 2 weeks to test a whole new release?

While it probably should factor in, I don’t think Insights is a factor in their decision.

That being said, May 16 - June 14, is a maximum of 27 days, which is definitely not 5 weeks.

So I see part of your point.

Remember the year they did the cloud production upgrade the weekend before insights and everyone flipped out? Then there was an idea (that got accepted) not to do the cloud upgrades with that timing anymore so insights absolutely factors into their planning. Their teams are there too.

And at this point if the production upgrade really is pushed to June 24 its hard to imagine there will be another upgrade in October/November - that would be only 3/4 months between upgrades.

I thought 2024.1 was coming to pilot in april?

Nope.

Oh thank goodness, I was about to start frantically backing up work!

There is also a note that now you have to ASK for pilot to be refreshed they won’t do it automatically this time. That is a welcome change (for me).

No, y’all forget I’m still an Epicor young buck. (As far as here at EpiUsers, and SaaS)

I’m just loud.

Like you say, how the f** does that give us time to debug their latest release? Another horror show from epicor.

My only comfort at this point is that I am testing the controlled release now and entering tickets like crazy. I am hoping we can find as many bugs as possible before testing starts in May.

We found the last one which broke dashboards, if they had a layer. Which placed the production release on hold for 2023.X

Y’all remember to be nice, software dev is hard.

If only there was a process to store your work outside the database, deploy, and test rapidly.

I think the silence has gone on long enough. Time to start breeding our own.

Agree, at some point the silence IS the answer

Agreed, just let’s do it right, or else…
