Thanks all but unfortunately no luck. What we have discovered now is that it has something to do with the ability to open or use the database. When we try to install the Vantage client on the workstations everything is fine until it starts to install the Progress database and we get an error message saying that it can not "use" the F:\progress\netinstall\setup.exe. However, I can go to the F:\progress\netinstall and run the setup.exe. It seems to run fine but ends without showing a completed install. There are no messages in the event viewer. I'm looking for my notes on the original install to see if we are missing something. Hopefully I will find them. It still installs on the server(s) just fine and most users can still get to it via remote desktop. I was the IT contractor for this client back in the day so I'm going onsite with their current IT support people to try to fix this so again, any help from any one's memory banks would be greatly appreciated. When we retire this system I think we will donate it to the Smithsonian. :- )
Thank you all for trying.

Try reading the Vantage.mfg file from one the machines with a working installation. You can use NotePad to read the contents of the .mfg file. The settings in this file need to be used when adding new workstations. You will need to know the server name/IP address, working folder, and service name/port numbers for the new workstation install.
When running the setup.exe program to install a new machine make sure you answer the prompts with the information in the vantage.mfg file.
Please let me know if you have 64bit computers or Windows 7 machines I can send you the instructions off-list for that type of installation. Same with ODBC based reports.

Subject: [Vantage] help needed with Vantage 5.2
Yes, Vantage 5.2...
Late last week the server hiccuped and ever since Vantage will not work. The work-around is to create remote desktop sessions to the server and users log in that way. only drawback is that printing does not work because most printers are locally attached. With a little IT digging we have discovered that the problem is that the progress database application does not load. There is no error message to indicate there is a problem. The Vantage splash screen just disappers. We have also discovered that if we reinstall the Vantage client then double click on the desktop icon that is created during the install Vantage works. However when you install it on the next computer it breaks the first install. Basically only one install can work at a time (unless you use the remote desktop session). Has anyone seen this behavior before? We are at a loss as to what might fix this. Shipping is completely down because the lable printers can't print. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
