I have a huge GL to import. I used to be able to copy/paste the segments right from a spreadsheet. Kinetic no longer allows for those paste options. I can see where I can export to excel, but no way to import any of these. Even smaller flat files like Product groups. If not entering one at a time, is the DMT the only way?
This is a great question, and one we’re struggling with too. I see the Paste Update/Insert option off the overflow menus in the Kinetic Grids but so far haven’t been able to use without error. I was blaming the 3-segment GL Account field and hoping that once that was fixed, we’d be able to paste, but haven’t been able to confirm yet, as most users who use this feature use it with the GL Acct field.
Has anyone been able to successfully Paste Update/Insert on a Kinetic grid or have any more info?
I don’t think DMT handles all the pieces, but I think the REST API does. I looked at what it would take to write a tool to import a GL, but haven’t actually done it. I guess the best I can say is I don’t know of any parts that aren’t accessible in the REST API.
Ok. I’ve been taking Jose’s YouTube “Epicor REST from the Beginning” video, and I’m learning REST. Very cool, and great video. We’ll see where it takes me…But I do have to ask - if Paste Update/Insert don’t work in Kinetic, why are they listed as options off the overflow menu?

Hold alt key while you open the screen see if you can still open it in classic mode and do what you need to do for import.
