Does going from 8.03 to 9 require sending the database to Epicor for conversion?
Or can 9 be installed, and then a local (on the server) update/conversion happen?
If a local conversion can be done, is it best to install 9 on the same server as 8, and then do the conversion, or to install 9 on a new server, copy the version 8 DB to it, and then run the conversion.
Any other things worth mentioning about going from 8.03 to 9?
Details of our systems
Our current architecture:
App Server: Windows Server 2003 R2 (actually a running in a VM Ware instance on brand new hardware)
Program version: 8.03.409C
Database: Progress OpenEdge 10.1B, SP 03
Clients: XP Pro, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1, and a few Mac's that use a Citrix Server connection.
* We're a very small company (10 licenses), with maybe 15 people that ever use it.
* Mostly used for Accounting, Sales, Purchasing & Inventory
* Barely for Manufacturing
- Just create jobs for material transactions.
- No labor or resource input, scheduling, MRP, etc....
* We have Product Configurator, and use it extensively.
* No web integration
* No Service Connect
* No CRM
But we do have quite a few customizations (all done by me).
* Most are form changes to add an extra field (like Number01,ShortChar02, etc...)
* Some have custom code in the form .
* There are about a dozen BPM's as well.
Thanks in Advance!
