Generate PO Suggestions

I don't know when Non-nettable warehouse bins  were established by Epicor or Vantage, but you may want to look at the bin setup that holds the on-hand balance. Non-nettable bin quantities aren't used in MRP or for suggestions.

In Version 5.2 does anyone know if it is necessary to Generate PO
Suggestions if you are running a full MRP regen?

We have a part that is Active with 0 on hand qty that has not generated any PO suggestions in the last six months.  Does anyone know what settings could be preventing the part from generating a PO suggestion?  Or if this is how the generate PO suggestion process is supposed to work for these types of scenarios?

            Is there demand for the part – Sales-Order, JOB-material,  Safety-Stock.

            On the Parts screen:

                        Gen>Plant>detail   is “Generate PO Suggestions” box checked

                        Gen>Part  ( also,Gen>Plant>Detail)    check “Qty Bearing”

            Or         Gen>Plant   “Process MRP”

 

            Other boxes not checked?

           

            Are other parts generating PO-Suggestions  ( in 9.05.700C on Time-Phase screen you can uncheck “Suggestions” so they exist but do not show)

If no demand it wont give the buyers a suggestion.  It will process the part, but no suggestion.

Yes, we have all the checked boxes checked in the Parts screen that you suggested below.  We run the generate PO suggestions process.  I am not sure if there was a demand for the part, I would have to check.  So even if there is no demand, if it is an active part with 0 on hand qty, would this still generate a PO suggestion without a demand?

I would think it would.

 

Logic/Algorithms

The Minimum On-Hand functionality uses this logic to calculate its results.

• If the On-Hand Quantity is < the Minimum On-Hand quantity, then generate one or more suggestions for

this part at this plant.

• If the Re-Order to Max check box is selected, then use the Maximum On-Hand quantity for the demand

quantity. If this quantity is larger than the Maximum Lot Size, then create multiple suggestions until the

Maximum On-Hand quantity is consumed

The Part has the Inventory settings set below in the Part screen.  With the settings below, would a PO suggestion be generated because the part has 0 on hand qty?  Or is it because our safety stock is set to 0 which doesn’t generate a PO suggestion demand?  I would expect a demand to be generated based on the Inventory settings below for a PO suggestion.

            When you run “gen PO Suggestions” you have to check some boxes and add a date. Check how you run it.

 

            Did it previously create suggestions for this part?

                       

 

For a test, put the part, and some other part, on a sales order, run gen-po-sug. Did it create a suggestion?

                        If not, change date or check boxes and try again.

Not in PODtl --- might show in PartDtl, but SugPoDtl is best bet.

In Time-phase screen, do suggestions show for other Part#’s.

 

What screen are you using to look at suggestions – some screens show only parts for a specific BUYER.

No, it has not previously created a suggestion once the on hand qty went down to 0.  Even if it did, I could not find a PO associated to that Part using a BAQ query.  Would PO suggestions show up in the PODtl table?

We have a part that is Active with 0 on hand qty that has not generated any PO suggestions in the last six months.  Does anyone know what settings could be preventing the part from generating a PO suggestion?  Or if this is how the generate PO suggestion process is supposed to work for these types of scenarios?

The Part has the Inventory settings set below in the Part screen.  With the settings below, would a PO suggestion be generated because the part has 0 on hand qty?  Or is it because our safety stock is set to 0 which doesn’t generate a PO suggestion demand?  I would expect a demand to be generated based on the Inventory settings below for a PO suggestion.

 

Min On-Hand: 9

Max On-Hand: 14

Safety Stock: 0

Re-Order to Max: Checked

Min Order Qty: 0

Lead Time: 14

Forecast Time: 0

Generate PO Suggestions: Checked

Quantity Bearing: Checked

Type: Purchase

If no demand it wont give the buyers a suggestion.  It will process the part, but no suggestion.

Yes, we have all the checked boxes checked in the Parts screen that you suggested below.  We run the generate PO suggestions process.  I am not sure if there was a demand for the part, I would have to check.  So even if there is no demand, if it is an active part with 0 on hand qty, would this still generate a PO suggestion without a demand?

            Is there demand for the part – Sales-Order, JOB-material,  Safety-Stock.
