Subject: [Vantage] PAYROLL MODULE vs. OUTSOURCING TO ADP or PAYCHEX
To the fellow "bean counters"-
How many of you are using Vantage's Payroll Module vs. outsourcing to ADP or
Paychex? If so, what are your thoughts of it.
We are in a "cost cutting" mode and currently use ADP. We pay roughly $22k
per year. As I see it, ADP is mainly cutting checks, filing/paying payroll
taxes, paying garnishments, and handling new employee reporting. I am
looking at a quote from Paychex for $17k per year with $1,000 initial set up
fee, which looks good, but I'm wondering if I can cut more costs.
I would like to hear some of your thoughts on using Vantage exclusively for
payroll vs. outsourcing. In addition, if we stick with outsourcing, ways to
reduce some costs by bringing certain pieces back in house. My payroll
clerk has done the payroll for 20+ years, and I understand many years ago,
she used to do it all in house.
Some of our statistics:
- 2 States with plants (IN & IL) w/ a couple employees in 2 other states
(total of 4 states)
- Our IL plant is not yet on Vantage, however, it is scheduled for Q1 '04
- We do not, and have no plans to, use Data Collection (timecards are
manually entered)
- 160 employees w/ approximately 25 weekly garnishment payments
- Weekly pay runs (paid the following Thursday)
- 2 to 3 new employees per month
Any thoughts ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Rick Ludwig
