Forecast entered consumes Sales Order but does not create Job in Time Phase

I have entered a Forecast for an assembly one week after the current date for a total of 5 pieces. I also have a Sales Order for the same assembly due on the same date for 2 pieces. After I run MRP and run Time Phase, only two MRP jobs are showing, and when I look at my entered forecast, it shows 2 pieces consumed. Shouldn’t I be seeing a total of 5 jobs created in Time Phase (2 for the sales order and 3 for the remaining forecast)?

What is your forecast window?

It is 0 days before and 28 days after.

It’s been a while since I worked with forecasts, but what I remember is that forecast will not produce demand until the day it was entered for with settings of 0 & 28. Try moving the 0 to a 10 and then see what happens.

Make it zero days before and zero days after. That way, the forecast will show as consumed only when there is an exact date match.

At least then you can figure out what is going on.

Thank you for your suggestions. I was under the impression that the forecast window was the timeframe that would allow Sales orders to consume Forecast. Please tell me if I am incorrect, but I thought having 0 and 28 would mean any sales orders within the 28 day window would consume the forecast, but any unconsumed forecast would still create an MRP job which would show demand for that particular assembly and its BOM.

If you are concerned about overlap, make a new customer name and use that for your forecast. If the sales order is not for the same company, the forecast should not be “consumed”.

Thank you for your reply. I am not concerned about the overlap. If the Forecast is consumed by the Sales Order, it actually works out better. My concern is that the forecast quantity does not show up at all. In Example, the sales order was for 2 and forecast was for 5. Time Phase only created MRP Jobs for 2, so it only recognized the Sales Orders.
