For anyone who does not want to post directly to the list

Both actually.

If you stop and think about the range of information posted on this list it
can be pretty intimidating.

Personally, I don't think there is such a thing as a dumb question. The
dumb part is when you don't ask the question to begin with. (was that a
cliche? Hmmm)

At any rate, anything we can do to draw more people into active
participation on the list benefits everyone.

I posted the question before Perspectives asking what version folks are on
and what is holding them back from upgrading for two reasons. One, I was
just plain curious. Two, when the list becomes more active and more people
participate then more questions get posted and more answers are delivered.

Curiously we had the same results with the hot dog thread. Once people
started responding to that they also seemed to respond to other postings.

It's kind of like watching TV, sometimes it's just a little too easy to sit
there and stare at the stupid thing without participating ...

Hence the new channel for anyone who, for whatever reason, prefers to ask
questions "quietly".

Shirley and I talked about and it seemed like a good idea so we thought we'd
give it a try. Shirley was nice enough to volunteer her time, so like
everything else on this list, there is no cost to anyone.

Hopefully a number of people will use the option.

Send your "quiet" questions to shirleyg@... - what do you
have to loose?

What were the mentioned reasons for not feeling comfortable posting?

Shyness?

Afraid of asking a "dumb" question?

Several Vantage list members at Perspectives mentioned that they do not
post
to this list because, well, they just aren't comfortable with doing so.

So Shirley Graver has volunteered to relay questions from anyone who
does
not want to post questions.

Simply send your questions to shirleyg@rubberasc.
<mailto:shirleyg%40rubberasc.org> org
<mailto:shirleyg%40rubberasc.org> with subject line of
"Please relay to Vantage list" or something along those lines and she
will
cut and paste your questions to the list under her name.

Thanks Shirley !
