First pass db upgrade from 8.03 to 9 - Financials (GL) accounts

Thanks for all the help William.  I ran the “verify account balances” and it “looks” like that might have fixed us up.  Just don’t know why Epicor wouldn’t have told us to do that…

Also ensure that your GL is posting COS and WIP in summary (if you want it) vice the default of detailed for E9.

 

We did not catch this till the first month was posted after going live.

For a starting point...

If there was no transaction in the periods that were upgraded you would not see the financial entry. Make sure that conversion 10080 was run for more than the current year. This utility would convert financials from prior periods. Upon completion I would run the verify balances on the GL to reset and make sure the numbers are correct.

We paid Epicor to convert Symix data to V8 back in 2006. When we used the DUU to upgrade to 9, the opening balances from 2006 did not get populated in the 9.04.500 database. I have to dump those 450 records into the db every time we test migrate.

If using the DUU, run conversion 10080 at the 9.04 level – do not run at 9.05.702 unless you want to spend DAYS doing it

Once you get to 9.05.702, run the Verify Balance program and then check your GL

 

We found we will make some one sided entries in E10 to offset some ‘funny’ stuff that exists in our V8 data, but after that it matches up.

Epicor did our upgrade for us from Vantage 5.2 Epicor 9.05. Upon our first pass we had a few GL issues also. The tech that did our data conversion was responsive at advising us how to handle the issues, as well as tech support.Â

These were my notes Regarding the GLÂ (had to do these each pass)

1) We had found GL errors during our first pass and rec'd a fix program that we had to run after each pass. This was unique to our company.
2) Run the "Verify GL Balances" for each company
3) We also had a GL issue with just one of our companies. The fix for this was for our controller to a journal entry and then run the "transfer balances" for each year 2000-current. (sorry I don't have the details the controller handled it)




Our problems are major.  It actually looks like it never resets any of the account balances after each year was closed since 1998.  It just keeps adding them up year after year…
