We frequently run First Articles and if they pass our internal inspection, the parts are sent to the customer for their approval. Production cannot begin until receiving the customer's signed approval.
Are there any manufacturers that require this type of inspection, both from internal QA and from the customer? If so, do you use the First Article process in the operation or do you handle it using some other procedure? We tried using it in 6.1 but found it didn't always function properly.
We many times have to break down the machine and do a set up again after receiving customer approval, so it doesn't seem like the Vantage First Article would be helpful in this case.
