Finished Goods Inventory

Hello all,

I am hoping for some assistance on a few issues I have with our finished goods inventory. Unfortunately, we had a few parts that were not assigned a class and therefore did not have an assigned account under GL control. This defaulted the parts into our finished goods although these parts should be in our raw material inventory. Since then I have added classes to these troublesome parts but it doesn’t appear that an entry was made under periodic postings or on the GL to clear from FG and add to raw materials. How can I transfer these parts out of finished goods to raw materials? Also, is their a report in E10 that will allow me to pull current stock of finished goods? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have two options.
#1. For the items that did not have a class you will first need to remove the class you added. Once the class field is empty do a stock adjustment to 0. Add the part class that you want back to item and do a stock adjustment back to what it was.

#2. Create a journal entry to move the costs from your Finished goods account to your raw materials account

Stock status report can give you stock levels by part class

Thanks Chris. Do you perhaps know of a way to filter inventory by GL control? We have many different classes that are tied to raw materials or finished goods accounts for example.

Thank you,
Mason

Find the GL account associated with the part class in Part Class maintenance.

Then filter on the part classes here in the stock Status report.

Run the report separately for each group.
