Exporting Time Phase to Excel

Troy,

There is a time phase report done in report builder on the yahoogroups that
is set up to be run by class. It is set up for ver 3.00 but it may give you
a start. Are you dealing with certain part classes or are you trying to look
at all the parts? We have set these up with multiple part classes by certain
users so they can look at the parts they are responsible for. If you
suppress the record lines it ends up being a single line for each part. HTH.

Does anyone know of a way to export the Time Phase in Vantage (5.0) to Excel?

OK. Let me explain further. We depend on the Time Phase report as well as MRP to check for shortages in jobs that are upcoming and/or on the floor. This report runs between 300 to 600 pages, and sometimes we're only looking to scan it for certain scenarios. It would be really handy to have this dumped into Excel so that we can work with it / cut and paste / etc. rather than tying up the printer and wasting all that paper. Anyone have any ideas for a solution? I believe this is a progress report. Anyone have a Time Phase report in Crystal or RB or Provision that you could share that could be modifed to do what we need?

Troy,

Have you tried printing it to a file instead? You might have to monkey
around with the formatting a bit, but at least you get a nice file with
ASCII characters...

We ar absolutely anal about keeping everything in the system and try not to use mutiple programs whenever possible. BUT,,,We use a program called Monarch Pro by Math Strategies, that allows you to take any report printed, (we use generic text written to a file), and create models to extract only the information you want, ie, instead of multiple reports, use the same report with different models. It will then export, if you like, to excel, access, lotus or many other formats and will also link tables to these models. For anyone dealing with reports there is no better program in my opinion.

Do you have a web address you can point me to so I can look into this product? Sounds like something we might like to use.

I've used Monarch before also. My version is about 5 years old so might not
be as full featured as the most current release of Monarch. I've had limited
success doing the same thing Monarch did using the Crystal Reports Import
tool. I took the canned Vantage Wip report into Crystal using the import
tool. Good luck

Until you get Monarch you could also try the following. When you
print preview a report vantage creates a file on your PC in the
Vntgwork folder called RPT####. While the preview screen is open you
can call this file up with excel. I've been doing this with our
Inventory WIP reconciliation report as it runs about 150 pages. The
file includes page headers, etc. so it takes a bit of formatting to
get it to be usable.

You can not create a time phase report in report builder. Another option
might be printing vantages version to a text or adobe file and searching.
You could even try a product like Monarch to read and create a summary from
a text file. Just some ideas.
