One way to do this is to print the canned bill of materials report to a text
only print driver, and instead of specifying a text file, hit CANCEL. This
will create a text file in the c:\vntgwrk directory on the workstation,
which can be imported into excel. I've written an Excell Workbook that will
take this file and format it. It can separate an indented BOM into
different individual BOM's, or leave them all on one. It's still in the
alpha stage, as far as user-friendliness goes.
However, with an ODBC Connection, you can write a compiled crystal BOM
report using the PART, PARTREV, and PARTMTL tables, and export the results
to an excell file. You can also do one in ReportBuilder, and export to a
text file, but the text file generated is not formatted correctly to import
into excel.
Without ODBC, you could create individual DBF exports from these tables, and
do a crystal report off of them. However, though a single level BOM ain't
too difficult, the indented can get a little hairy. I haven't quite tackled
that one yet.

Subject: [Vantage] Exporting BOM
I am forwarding on a question one of my users has, any help would be
appreciated. I am somewhat new to Vantage and dont have much experience in
getting what users want out of it.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A WAY TO EXPORT A COMPLETE BILL OF MATERIAL (BOM)
FROM THE VANTAGE PART MODULE. ANY HELP WOULD BE A GREAT BLESSING
Thanks in advance
