Lois this could be indicative of another SMTP server on your
network - can happen with a trojan horse or a virus on one of the
machines like blaster which has it's own smtp server. They can
generate a lot of SMTP traffic. If you have a tool where you can
tell what kind of packets (e.g smtp) are casing the traffic; can you
tell which IP it is originating from? isolate this machine and run
anti virus or varoius other tools available on the web (symantec,
McAfee, Trend etc web sites). If you need any more help or info let
me know.
