Export Utility Calculated Fields

You cannot not do aggregate calculations. I think it is expected that you
would be doing that type of calculation and analysis in the software you
will be using with the data. If you out put to Excel it is very simple to
some on a column. If you would be using a dBase program or some other
package there would be nowhere to hold the result of the aggregate field if
is was output using the Export Utility. Remember you are really just
sending out a table of raw data.

Wayne,
Thanks. I was able to add a field label to a calculation as you
mentioned. Two notes about it:

1. I had to enter the field label statement AFTER the "Field Name" in the
calculation, otherwise it stuck the label on the PREVIOUS field's heading in
Excel. So an acceptable statement would be:
OrderRel.OurReqQty column-label "Required Qty"

2. You can do simple sum calculations such as:
OrderRel.OurJobShippedQty + OrderRel.OurStockShippedQty column-label
"Shipped Qty"
but I don't know about "aggregate" calculations. It sure would be nice to
be able to aggregate -- as in combining multiple bin locations in the
PartBin.OnHandQty for instance. Anyone know how to do this in a Vantage
Export?

Oops... sorry. Vantage 4 added calculated fields in the export
utility. Under the fields tab, there is Add and Edit Calculation.
That
whole line I posted was copied from the Edit Calculation box.

Anyone (Lonnie?) know if you can write queries to export only subtotals,
like an aggregate field in RB?

When entering a calculated field in export Utility to Excel the field
name is always "Field1". Is the a way to force a field name.

Yes, you can use some of the 4GL display keywords to control the output. I
couldn't find it in the documentation. But if you use the 4.0 ShopVision
reports, they will generate exports that show some of the fancy features
Epicor doesn't tell you about.

Here's a sample of one from the Shipping Performance export definition:

ymd(OrderRel.ReqDate) format "x(10)" column-label "Dimension Required Date"

The column-label keyword will plop that into the top row of your Excel export.

Good Question. I would like to know that as well.

Now wait a second, Wayne. Where in the world do you put that line? IN the Query statement somewhere?
