Error using UOM Conversion Tool

Since "length" is your class of measure, you can set up a conversion to use both feet or inches. You use the UOM class maintenance to set up the necessary conversions. If you have your base in feet, you would add inches and have the system multiply by 12 to get inches. It won't replace feet, it will just give you the ability to use inches. Then on your respective part the UOM class would be length, and you can set the actual UOM as it's used (in the methods) and the system will convert the requirements. Use the pull down on the UOM to select which one you want. You cannot change a UOM class (like length, area, volume or weight) once the part has ANY transactions on it. The conversion tool is basically useless and even the help docs says to only use it as a last resort. So it is very important that you make sure the parts are set up correctly when they are first created, if they aren't, you'll have to make all new part numbers.

We have a part set to FT and need to change it to IN. We are trying to use the UOM Converstion tool.  We pull in the part and shows it in FT, then select the new once IN.  We get an error message saying Missing Conversion to UOM Code BX.  We don't have BX in our Length class.  The old Class is UNITS and has IN but won't let use select that either.  In the past I have always ran a SQL query to update the UOM.  If this tool is available I would like to use it.

Cannot convert to UOM Class UNITS.  PartBin records already exist for this part.
