So we are starting to take steps toward upgrading 10.0.700.4 to 10.1.400. Now I hear rumors that 10.1.500 is supposed to be dropping soon, maybe even next month, and I have to communicate a plan to management in regard to this.
So I’m wondering - what is introduced in a service pack release (e.g. 10.1.400 to 10.1.500)? Obviously we know that between 10.0 and 10.1 (a “point” release I’ve heard it called) pretty much anything is fair game and there is an expectation that there will be new functionality, database schema changes, perhaps even minor architecture differences, etc. But which of those may apply, or definitely will apply, to a service pack release like 10.1.500?
Thanks for any insight - no pun intended - you can provide!
The Hundred level releases are like a “light” point release in that technically anything is fair game to add but practically the changes at the hundred level tend to be more evolutionary and incremental than a point release.
There are lots of interesting & useful additions in .500 and some key bug fixes that we’re happy to see
