Epicor SaaS and printing from Mobile Warehouse Mgmt App

Is there a work around for adding printers to Epicor that are not Client Printers (SaaS limitation)? We don’t want our handheld users to have to go to a PC to print things. We want to allow them to print from their handhelds.

Thanks ya’ll!

In the past for mobile printing, we have used Mobi Print from mobile devices. It adds a browser extension you can call which generates a label. I can’t speak specifically to the integration with the mobile warehouse app you are using, but we’ve integrated it into our Bezlio solutions for many customers.

Hey Jeremy -

For the Epicor SaaS customers there is an optional installation of the Edge Agent that can be enabled in the 2021.2 release and should be enabled by default in the 2022.1 release.

The Edge Agent has two modes - one as a Browser Plug-in to do unattended printing to printers available to the Browser workstation (user does not need to manually Preview and then Print) and a second mode that covers your usage question - Edge Agent as a network print Service.

When the Edge Agent has been installed as a network print Service, Printers can be defined for the SaaS customers in a similar way as Server Printers are defined for on-prem. In Printer maintenance, you create a Printer definition by first selecting the Edge Agent Service you want to use for print management and the Printer setup UI allows you to select a Printer from the list of Printers available to that Edge Agent.

When a User submits a report (or via Auto-Print), they can select from Client managed Printers or Edge Agent managed printers.

If an Epicor SaaS customer wants this capability for the 2021.2 release, they will need to submit a request to have their configuration enabled for the Edge Agent as a network service. The configuration does require a slight outage for Task Agent based operations so the request should include several times when it would be okay to do the update. Once the configuration work on the Server / Task Agent has been completed, the Edge Agent can be installed as a Service and then Printers can be defined.

Sorry for the late replay - missed this when you initially posted.

Thanks,
Rich
