Epicor Light Weight Client Installer

We’re in the infancy of our E10 project. We’re considering running the Epicor Light Weight Client on various PC’s throughout the company and are beginning to test. Problem is we’re getting a version mismatch. From the looks of it our light weight client installer is installing 10.1.500.0 and we’re currently running 10.1.500.7.

How do I get the light weight client installation (download) from the webclient to download the correct version to the PC? I don’t recall anything in the upgrade instructions. I’m assuming that I have to rebuild the light weight client installation so that it will contain all of the updated 10.1.500.7 files. Not sure how to do it?

Please advise.
Thank you,

WAIT! Looks like I must have missed a section in the install / upgrade guide. executing steps now - will advise.
Jeff

Looks like it’s for the full client installation - not the light weight client install. So the issue still stands - I have a version mismatch between my installation and the light weight client. Please advise.

This is a known SCR for Epicor. Fixed in 10.1.600. Not in 10.1.500.12, checked already!

Hi, hello… we are currently working on the upgrade to 10.1.600.8. Our EWA is now running but the Light weight client is still giving the version mismatch error… does anybody know how to solve it?

Greetings,

Did you try uninstalling the old client and reinstalling the new client from the new server?

Hi Mazin,

Actually this is a brand new installation. but will give it a try again after removing all the client information in the client.

Greeetings, folks. I know I’m late to the party on this, but I had this same problem stuck in my craw for the last couple weeks and finally made a breakthrough. I now have this fixed in a lab environment running 10.1.600.18. Well, I shouldn’t get too far ahead of myself. I’m not exactly familiar with what functionality is supposed to be available or not (meaning I have encountered some errors on one or more screens), but at least the Lightweight Client launched!

What I ended up doing was copying ‘Epicor.App.Version.dll’ from a working client install of the same version (in fact, I copied the file from Application Server’s own client install) into the directory where the Lightweight Client is.

Please note that it seems you still can’t use the desktop shortcut that the .MSI installer drops on the desktop, as this will want to perform the copy from the server again, stomping on the copied DLL. At the end of the day I needed to delete that shortcut (from Public Desktop) and create a new shortcut similar to the thick client (epicor.exe /con=file.sysconfig).

At the time of this writing this has only been tested on the version I mentioned earlier, but I plan on playing around with this on other versions. If anybody wants to know my results I would be happy to report back. Other than that, I don’t see any harm in someone simply trying it (backup that original file first, of course!).
