we are custom cabinet shop where nearly all jobs require new raw materials (Special Order Materials) we have yet to create part numbers for during the quote process.
Currently in the Opportunity/Quote function I add a new Raw Material and title is Quote#-RM1, 2, 3 etc.
I complication is if we are quoting 70 different finished good parts I need to manually enter all data fields each time the material is cited.
Is there any way you’ve encountered where an estimate/quote can have a unique material list where if you create (1) raw material part you can easily cite it on another part.
For our MRP process this would very useful to determine how many sheets of each type are needed and speed up our acquisition process.
Can you make a BPM thats triggered on adding a new detail row, where it defaults the new part number as QuoteNum-RM-IncrementedInteger. And have the rep overwrite it as needed? Or it enables when something is flagged.
EDIT - I mis-understood… If it’s a part on the fly, I don’t believe anything is saved where you can refer it elsewhere. You’d need to make it a real part first, IMHO.
