Hi,
Has anybody here experience of using the Epicor Kinetic Warehouse? We had a demo and it looked fairly practical to use. Would be nice to hear from “real users” what your thoughts are. Also, would be nice to hear how the EKW possibly has helped you make the inventory cycle count more efficient.
Many thanks in advance!
BRgds Christoffer
Hey Chris!
I just want to preface my comment by saying that we have not yet gone LIVE, but we have tested and used the EKW a fair amount in the last few months of our implementation.
For us, the EKW has been a huge benefit on our production floor. Our previous system doesn’t have any capability for mobile access, so even having it as an option has been a big step procedurally. We bought a bunch of Samsung tablets to distribute across different areas of the production floor. They were relatively inexpensive and can handle the EKW no problem.
I’ve been gathering some feedback from our production team on how they feel about it as we’ve been testing and there’s been two particular sentiments that stand out. Easy to use and convenient. The way the EKW is set up is simple which has made it very easy to train across each department of the floor. The convenience is driven by the fact that before having it, we’d be printing documents, e-mailing them across departments, or word of mouth. Being able to do it directly in EKW and cut some of those steps out has saved a lot of time and eliminated a lot of common mistakes.
Before, we had a few desktops that were set up across the floor that could be used to access our previous ERP. So, a lot of those responsibilities would fall on one person as well as being much more difficult to use in general. EKW allows us to spread those duties out across more folks and get everyone more on the same page regarding how the process works, as well as being much more streamlined.
I can’t speak too much on the impact to inventory cycle count yet until we go live and put it in practice, but it certainly has changed how we think about it and modernized our process a bit which I think is going to be pretty impactful down the road.
All in all, I’d give it a solid 8/10. There are some clunky UI issues we run into occasionally, and we’re currently running the tablets on WiFi which has a tendency to be inconsistent in certain areas of the building, so sometimes we’ll run into issues with load time/the app not responding. Generally it’s pretty consistent though. As we continue to go along, we’re trying to continue improving usability and cut down on those issues before we go live officially.
Thank you Austin for your valuable comments. Hope you will have a smooth go-live!
There are a lot of EKW users on the forum, I’ve had a great experience with it. The Biscit folks have been very responsive to customers ideas and issues that arise.
The app was a replacement for the old epicor handheld and run on Android devices. Honestly, pick pack ship was difficult to implement until the EKW app came along.
You can demo the app using your education database.
Certainly sir! Always happy to help.
One question though, What’s a smooth go-live?
Are all of your tablets Android? It’s only on google play right?
Whoops, yep that’s correct. As far as I’m aware, it’s only on Google Play for the time being. I can’t remember if they said if it’s coming to IOS/the App Store down the road or not. The iPads are more for accessing Kinetic on mobile rather than EKW.
Good catch!
I currently have two Zebra T52 scanners , that I have the application download but stuck in the loading phase. This is the first time installing the application so I am trying to get to license the device, have you came across this?
We have 3 other Zebra T52 scanners and load flawlessly.
